Color Me Badd!

Sat 30 Aug 2003 4:41 pm

Doesn’t Color Me Badd just rock the most?!? Brian and I were cruising along when good-ole ‘Choose’ came up next on his Ipod playlist. Ever heard ‘Choose’? Ohhhh My GOSH is it good. I highly recommend downloading it. And I highly recommend taking a moment of silence for the late great Color Me Badd. – Pause – “Looking through my eyes at the world, Can’t you see, Every time I see your face, There’s a choice to be made.
Walking hand in hand, Through the sands of time, As I peer into the past, Foreign steps are terrorizing, Watching what is now, There’s a fork in the path, Of the future of your life, Which road shall you choose? Choices to be made, Past and present, It’s not easy, But my love won’t let me die, until your heart resurrects me.”

Flanders & Chantilly Lace

Thu 21 Aug 2003 4:42 pm

I am a bad girl! I haven’t been online to give you exciting fashion news like I promised. So how about some random fashion history. Hope this meets your fancy.
Ever heard of Flanders, what about Chantilly Lace? Believe it or not, the first sign of lace was way back in Pharoh time. Lace was made of flax cloth, was designed in geometric shapes, and decorated with various colored threads. The Greeks and Romans also adorned their robes with gold edges. Edges meaning lace. Lace is derived from the twisting techniques used in decoration of the fringe ends of woven fabric. Lace became very popular in the 1300’s when the wife of the King of France (home of Chantilly Lace might I add) was disappointed that the women of Flanders (Belgium) were dressed better then her (poor thing). So, King Phillip IV, attempted to send his tax collectors to strip the peasants of their belongings, but his men were run off. So, feeling his pride was bruised he sent an army to teach those too trendy peasants of Flanders a lesson. After a whole mess of stuff, including ‘The Battle of the Golden Spurs” King Phillip IV proceeded to rob some, be threatened by others, to kill those that had just threatened him, while robbing them too. And in the process of it all (after making connections through the battle of course) VOILA! Lace found it’s way to his wife and France.
So, in my story it seems lace had a golden path guiding it to France, but really it took a little more than a ‘mess of stuff’ as mentioned in my story. hee hee! If you want to check it out yourself go to lacemagazine.com

BeBe ‘Sneak Preview of Fall Collection Premier’

Wed 13 Aug 2003 4:43 pm

Hey, so Bebe is having a sneak preview of the “Fall Collection Premiere”. Just walk into a Bebe store between 6:00 and 9:00 pm next Thursday night August the 21st. And . . . if you spend $100 or more (I can only wish) you get a free gift. Yeah! Too bad we can’t check out the premiere online, oh well. If walking into a Bebe store and tempting myself to buy recklessly wasn’t such a bad thing I may hit up the premiere too. Instead I think I’ll stay at home and balance my check book. Dag Yo.

The Arrival of Veronica, my 51b 2oz Baby Girl!

Mon 11 Aug 2003 4:45 pm

YIPEE! I am now the proud owner of my very own laptop! I am quite excited because it is my first (yes, I AM a laptop virgin). This evening I am going to do nothing but sit with Veronica, my new baby (IBook). AND, I am going to take advantage of now being a laptop owner and cruise the internet while sitting on my back deck, or maybe even while sipping a ‘Coconut Creme Frapaccino’ at ‘Starbucks’. Woo Hoo! I am now apart of the mac laptop nation, and silly proud of it too.

Vogue Doodles

vogue sketches collection I greatly enjoy reading Vogue magazine, I must say though that I am more interested in the images then the text itself. I am easily inspired by what I see. Thanks to Claudia at MSU for encouraging me to loosen up and be less fridgid behind the pen.
