Terry Wilke & Eddie Rodriguez
Eddie was born in Baradero Beach Cuba and grew up in Miami. He studied business at the University of Miami. After leaving the university in 1977 and joining a clothing company called Gravity he spent five years as vice presient of marketing and sales. Terry Wilke joined Gravity soon after as a young desinger who had been recruited to help with the men’s line. The two really clicked and realizing they shared the same buisness ideas started planning. Their first year in business they made $150,000 and were making sales in Bloomingdales and Macy’s. Five years after the two had started their business Terry died in 1992 at age 36. Eddie debated what to do with the company after Terry’s death but decided that the best tribute to his late friend and business partner would be to keep Terry’s name alive by not letting the business die. Today the company has stores in East Hampton, New York, Santa Monica California, and Miami Beach Florida, with plans for another in the Soho district. The Wilke Rodriguez name is sold in 360 stores in Canada and the US alone. The name is also sold in Japan, Austrailia, New Zealand, and Mexico. Today Wilke Rodriguez sells about 45 million worth of corporate casual-style men’s wear with the support of it’s 7 year partnerhip with asian supporter LF. So Terry and Eddie’s goal of making well-deisned clothes at affordable prices has succeeded, the name has become very popular worldwide. Eddie’s only regret, is that Terry hasn’t been able to see what their dream has really developed into. The Wilke Rodriguez corporate name just so happens to be PAECO meaning “Possibilites Are Endless Company” which is very appropriate considering that Eddie, even after the death of Terry remembered that possibilities are endless and never lost site of the Wilke Rodriguez dream.
