Ski Bunny

Sun 31 Oct 2004 4:34 pm
vogue sketches collection My 2004 Halloween Ski Bunny costume. All handmade . . . even the boots. I was watching Charlie’s Angles 2 and thought the winter white outfit Cameron Diaz wore in the opening scenes was adorable for a ’ski bunny’. Remember the outfit she wore while riding the bull in the pub full of greasy men? Yep! Very inspiring for my costume!

Worst of 2004

Mon 11 Oct 2004 4:14 pm

Now then . . . moving on to the 10 worst dressed! Sucker Punch noise and a fatty drum role please! Bum bum bum . . .

Alicia Keyes looking all plasticy in her version of full body leathers. Anne Heche with a fro and a . . . um . . . a . . . um . . . dress I guess. Cameron Diaz who I would love to have on my best list, cuz she is usually dressed super cute. This time, sorry Cameron, you on the worst list. That jacket sucks with that dress! Connie Nielsen I barely even know who you are and if you continue to wear crap like that I will never have a desire to. Janet, is this antoher one of your ideas of a sexy flash!? ‘Nasty!’ Jessica Simpson obviously got her dress hem caught in the mower . . . hmmm, enough said. Michelle Branch, OH MY GOSH! your killin’ me. Natasha Henstridge almost had it right with the red, but the length and the nasty nylons ruined it. Tara Reid . . . what happened to the rest of it? and Tori Spelling, dear, dear Tori . . . it’s no wonder your career died.

P.S. I’m really not a mean person, swear. :)

Betty Grable & Monroe, Deitrich and Dimagio! Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean, on the cover of a magazine . . . VOGUE!

I went to quizilla last night seeking entertainment. Miguel and I talk a lot on the phone so sometimes it is fun to play online games together and chat, or to take dorky quizzes together . . . otherwise the converstaion can sometimes lag. Hours and hours of talking and eventually I just get crabby :) So we laughed over some quizzes. Here is what I learned . . .

Of all the pin-up girls I am most like Betty Grable. She was considered an ‘All American Beauty’ she inspired lonely G.I.’s overseas with her coy smile and sweet disposition – and of course, her million dollar legs. (or so the quiz said) On this thought here are a couple of fun facts about sweet Betty . . .

Her real name was Elizabeth Ruth Grable.

20th Century Fox had her legs insured for 1.25 Million Dollars.

She acted in 60+movies over her 38 year movie making career.

She was 13 when she made her 1st movie, and she was only 39 when she made her last movie.

When musicals lost their popularity in the 50’s she resorted to acting mostly on stadge on broadway.

In 1947, after World War II and her famous pin-up days, the US Treasury considered Grable the highest paid entertainer in America receiving $300,000 a year.

She died at age 57 of cancer.

No Shame

One of my favorite songs by the Newsboy’s comes to mind today. It is called ‘I’m Not Ashamed’. I just spent this evening watching the Bush Kerry debate . . . so much hurt, anger, disgust, distrust, and fear sweep over me . . . what will our world become without the grace of God? If we do not have His blessing, where will our countries future be?

“I’m not ashamed to let you know . . . I want this light in me to show . . . What are we sneaking around for? Who are we trying to please? Shrugging off sin, apologizing like we’re spreading some kind of disease. This one warns it’s a lost cause, save your testimonies for churchtime.
The other ones state you’d better wait until you do a little market research.
I’m saying, ‘No way . . . No way.’”

I’m not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show. I’m not ashamed to speak what I believe in, who I am, or what I will and wont stand for.

With that in mind . . .

Oh, and thank you Arnold for this thought . . . I don’t vote for ‘Girlie Men’!

Robin is the Key

Thu 7 Oct 2004 3:30 pm

I told you I was enjoying this whole Halloween and costume thing way to much. :) Oh, with that thought, I finally decided what I am going to be for Halloween and I started making my costume. It’s gonna rock! At least i think so. I dont want to ruin the fun and tell you what it is yet, but once I have it done I will upload picutes. :) Ferris is all ready for Halloween too. He is going to be a Vampire. Thanks to Brian for buying the super-cute costume.

Well, I am sure that my Robin picture is making no sense so perhaps I should explain. 2004 had some good movies, right? Some of my favs were Spiderman 2, X-men 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Just Married. I also think Mona Lisa Smile was good, Lord of the Rings was pretty interesting, Wimbeldon looks good, oh and I really liked Seabiscuit. I think there have been several young actors in Hollywood this year that have made a big impact on the movie screen. I can see these faces going places. :) Ha! My idea of top teen talent in Hollywood would be this list. Now, none of them are actually teens but keeping with the whole Teen Titan theme here . . . they are the young superhero’s and heroine’s of Hollywood. The young A-list, greatly influencing and kicking BUTT! on the screen.

So here they are . . . the Teen Talent of 2004. Oh and by the way, Robin is the key, so use him as ‘the link’. Oh and if anyone cares I love the Teen Titans and I was actually just anxious to Photoshop some celeb heads on the titan’s bodies. I thought It would look pretty funny. I needed a reason to do it . . . you know I am trying to recap all the cool stuff in 2004, so I needed a plan. :) Anywho, you wont be too interested to know, but Robin and Raven are my fav titans. Cyborg is super-buff and that’s cool, Beast Boy is just weird, and Starfire is pretty cute but I think Robin and Raven are way cool! What do you think? Oh and my fav Teen Titans don’t necessarily reflect my fav Teen Talents. :)

On the Fence & Nice Try!

Tue 5 Oct 2004 3:31 pm

Now some of these lovely ladies have had rough years . . . they have made it both on my best and worst list! They have managed to look absolutely lovely one moment and then somewhat questionable in the next. When I say questionable I mean of course . . . I am questioning their judgment in designers recommendations. I mean, they don’t have to wear what’s handed them . . . they do get to choose. These choices are not justifiable in my mere opinion. So the top 3 Best & Worst go to . . . Bum bum bum . . .

Lastly, I have the ‘nice try, you almost had it but you must have missed something’ or the ‘nice try, you almost had it but now you look like crap’, and the ‘nice try, you almost had it but I still like ya’. Drum roll please . . . Bum bum bum . . .

Britany Murphy, I think you are cute even dressed down in that pink hoody and giant sized sunglasses. It is important to protect your eyes from the UV rays after all. 8 points for heatlh awareness. :) Charlize Theron . . . LOOK AT THOSE SHOULDER PADS!!! Negative 5 for looking like a football player. ha ha! Christina Aguliera. I think her voice is amazing and I like her attitude. I respect her desire to never lipsync during a performance . . . therefore I wont bash her feathery thingy. 10 points for being gutsy enough to wear it! I think Julia Stiles is super-cute too . . .but I’m not sure what I think of the red dress, a bit sloppy looking. 4 points for looking nice in red. hee hee! Rose McGowan usually looks so elegant but this time she had a gold overload, therefore 0 points. YIKES!

Congrats to all the ladies for making it to my list. Afterall even being on the worst list is better then not making it to my list at all. Hang in there for next year though ladies . . . you may make it to my best next year . . . but you better choose well. Oh, and if you really rock in your industy and are supercool despite your clothing choices, that really helps too. So if you are Britney Spears just know you will never make it to my Best list! And in the same regards if you are Madonna, you will never make it to my Worst list!

More Best & Worsts of 2004 to come. :)

Cool Chicks

Tue 5 Oct 2004 3:31 pm

Hmm . . . I wonder if Halloween and picking out a costume are overpowering my mind? I know I have looked at a million different ones online . . . lacking inspiration, I am. Well, for some random reason I decided that I wanted to liven up the 2004 Best & Worst list. ‘Liven it up?’ (I seem to think.), ‘Why, it has barely begun . . . does it already need livening up?’ (Good grief. I seem to say.) Well, here goes nothing . . .

Introducing the Sweet Singing Chicks of 2004! (once again in my opinion – but I love these gals music and I think their voices rock! I love their strength and determination, their desire to work hard for their goals, their fearlessness to stand out and stand alone, their willingness to try new things and to be bold. So here they are . . .

Best of 2004

Sat 2 Oct 2004 3:32 pm

So it may not yet be the end of the year, but with only a couple of months to go I have come to the conclusion that it is time. Time to share my opinions on the best dressed and of course, the worst dressed celebrities during the year 2004. From the Red Carpet, to the Studio, . . . they manage to dazzle, shock and amaze. I will do my best to give my earnest opinions . . . you may form your own conclusions and form your own opinions . . . but do not fail to forget whom sweat over fabrics, cried over patterns, bled and suffered for 3.5 years in a fashion degree and all for an empty hand with no diploma, a tired back from endless hours of stitching, a puney pile of fashion mag’s, and a poor excuse for a fashion library. (Oh and since this wasn’t the best joke of the year 2004, I ask no medals be handed out, no victory dances done, just merely a moderate giggle inserted here). Now, these may not be the best words of advice, but keep in mind . . . “a squirrel is just a rat with a cuter outfit‿ (Carrie Bradshaw) So, although some may dress more expensive, look nicer, or have a better stylist does not necessary make them the winner. Even trailor-trash can dress it up and look like a queen.

So, drum role please, as I introduce the top 10 best dressed of the year 2004! Bum bum bum . . .
