Simply Irresistable

Recently while watching ‘Sex and the City’ reruns I became very aware of the ‘Now’ hot handbag among those inexplainably choosing to impress. The Birkin. For all of you who are up-to-date on Season 4 you too will recall Kim Cattrall trying to cheat her way into aquiring the now famous Red Kelly Birkin. My curiousity got the better of me when I heard on VH1 of celebrity mom, and my favorite super-model, Kate Moss toting her babies toiletries in her $9K white leather Birkin. So I hit google and discovered a world of Birkin, very pleasingly impressing me with their design, prestigue, and cost (no doubt). A 168 years of quality craftmanship has provided a very good name for Hermes’ Birkin Bag.

Each bag handmade with the finest of exotic leathers, all branded with the Hermes name estimated to sell at a starting price of $6K. More impressingly the most expensive Birkin to date is $85K, made of crocidile, with solid gold and diamond closure pieces.

Don’t plan on buying a cheep ripped off version, however . . . Hermes has on numerous counts fought to keep copies of their Kelly and Birkin off the rack. ‘Hermes Wins Trademark Court Battle’ Willing to fight for their trademark and the exlusiveness of the brand proves the bags aren’t just for any folk. For those interested plan on standing in line for at least 2 years on a waiting list and dropping gaggles of cash . . . the Hermes Birkin isn’t easy to obtain.

I dug into Ebay.com discovering a world of Birkin, Kelly and Cash.

Curious who’s been dishin’ out cash or where the bag’s been lately?

Someday in the future, I will have to make the choice? Mini Cooper or Birkin?

The Roses Are Growing

Sun 23 Jan 2005 9:47 am

Constantly growing in popularity . . . she continues to seek new ways of merchandising her ‘Roses’. Madonna’s first, of 5 children books which was released on September 15th, 2003 in 100 countries, and 30 different languages is soon to have an animated film version, and is also currently showing a line of children’s clothing.

Apparently Madonna, with Guy Ritchie directing, has negoticated with David Bowie, Snoop Dogg and Britney Spears for vocals in her big-budget animated movie. Madonna, herself plans to appear as the voice of the Fairy Godmother.

Now, in regards to her clothing line, the main reason I wanted to write this entry . . . a google search, showed me that Nordstrom.com, InFashionKids.com, OlieBollen.com (a small mother-owned children’s goods online store), and TuttiBella.com (a fairly high-end, expensive children’s goods store) are all carrying the English Roses logo, just to name a few. Based on Madonna’s book, and her book’s inspiration, her daughter, Lourdes, she has created a full line of fun little girl’s clothing. Here are some of my favs . . .

Currently the rain boots are selling for $44 dollars on Nordstrom.com and the rain coats are selling for $62. The umbrellas are the amazing low price of $19 however. That seems pretty reasonable for exclusive, Madonna made, style. I also saw some adorable jeans with a trendy sash belt, a cute tank and pants set with ruffles on the legs (much like bell bottoms) an English Rose tea set, and all five main character dolls. There are many many cute tshirts as well.

Seems the pop princess’ first attempt at literature has done increasingly well. Just wish I had the reasoning to collect the ‘English Roses’ clothing for my own.

Stayed Tuned

Sat 15 Jan 2005 8:55 pm

Just wanted to apologize for the lack of content lately. Brian has been in the process of switching my site over to a new server, meanwhile I have been hard at learning a new imputting technique. I think I have it mostly figured out now however so you should stay tuned for all my back work that I have had sitting on my desktop awaiting uploading. The site has some new features however that I am excited about (thanks Brian for all your hard work). My collections page (still with the three different sections, draping, sketches and photos) is now broken down into categories within these 3 sections, also one of my fav new features is each section now has a description. If you check out collections draping for example my works each have names then a quote or sonet (or something) that was my inspiration or rather my feel while creating each piece. My photos page will soon have the same descriptions for each section of photos. I am excited . . . the descriptions can sum up what I try to say in all my many photo captions.

So the journal page and the contact page at this point don’t appear to be different. However you might notice if you check out my contact page often that I frequently change my imood (just a silly little feature really but I thought I would mention it because perhaps some of you do not know about it. I enjoy changing it so hopefully it is somewhat enteratining for you all. . . . probably just wishful thinking on my part though).

I have quite a few new photo sections that will be uploaded anytime now, also all my negative ‘runway’ images are new for the New Year so hope you enjoy.

Well, like I said stayed tuned because you are bound to see new things popping up here and there. Oh and keep your eye out for reader polls were I hope to give all of you who visit a chance to vote on various ideas . . . just for kicks (get you all involved a little). Well. feel free to email me if you have anythinig you hope to see that you haven’t yet or you just wanna say.

OH! and my journal page now has next and previous tags . . . so you have pages and pages to look through if you wish to go all the way back. For particular ‘featured’ articles . . . say all my Madonna related articles I eventually will have a features link in my journal where you can view categories of entries (all my madonna, my 2004 best and worst, my a-z list, etc). Also stayed tuned for a live blog . . . gosh big ideas . . . lots happening. (smile)

Ta Ta.
