Listening to Bananarama today got me thinking . . . I have a lot to be thankful for. In my childhood alone I can’t even begin to count the good memories and endless blessings. The 80’s held a plethora of joys to be had for me in my youth. Remember, The Bangles, Flash Dance, new wave, Cyndi Lauper, Jem, My Little Ponies, and Moon Boots? There were Transformers, tube socks, Glo Worms, Gummi Bears and my Cabbage Patch Kids, Elisa Mara and Elroy Octavius. I will never forget Night Rider, Sarah Jessica Parker ‘just having fun’, my sweet ‘Love’s A Lot’ Care Bear, and the first president I wrote an appreciation letter to, Ronald Regan.

There was waking up at 6:00 am to watch Garfield Saturday mornings, and begging to stay up late enough for Family Ties and ALF. There was Corey Feldman (ahhhh), Ah-Ha (Take On Me, favorite song, EVER!), Jennifer Beals (work that off shoulder sex appeal!), and ‘Skippers’ first boyfriend, Kevin.

I will always have a love of 80s fashion, and will eagerly welcome it back each time it comes. (Definitely welcome it back for Halloween!) Sometimes I still long for leg warmers, and bangles, leotards and neon. Our world would not be the same without back combed hair and pompadours, kicked up jacket colors and the oh so micro, spandex mini’s.

What would your life have been like, growing up in a world with no A-Team, Hart to Hart, Easy Bake Ovens, Fraggle Rock, Breakfast Club, Pull Position, Footloose, Ferris Bueller, Sixteen Candles, John Cusack, Patrick Dempsey, and Michael J Fox (lovin’ it! And Back to the Future, COME ON!! It rules!!)?

Well, it’s official. I’m single . . . single and realizing that all the good men are looking elsewhere, AND apparently finding what they want. Thank God I’m only 25 and time is not fading too quickly. ugh
